Default Got rid of the UGLY Silver trim around the instrument cluster

You guys may know that I have been obsessed with getting rid of the Silver trim around the instrument panel. I would prefer to put on CF trim to match the OEM CF,but that just doesn't exist. Thought about doing a Vinyl wrap. But after further investigation, I found that removing the trim was really a job I didn't want to tackle. So I decided to paint it Satin black. Purchased some Rustoleum Universal paint. No priming. The job took 2:55 to mask and cover everything.Less then 5 minutes to paint and about 45 minutes to carefully remove the tape. I am really happy with the results. Now some might say that the alum trim matches the metal trim on the CF pieces. IT DOESN'T. I might recommend letting the paint dry fro more than the 1Hr recommended. It is very easy to scratch the paint with your fingernail if you aren't careful. I did have a small touch up that i was able to accomplish without re masking the entire panel.

Default The finished product

The finish is has SLIGHTLY more gloss than the other plastic, But I feel it is a 1000% improvement.

Ever notice how black upholstery looks gray in almost all the pics you see posted here? That's because of the "automatic white balance" in most digital cameras. Most cameras have a way of overriding this, you put a white sheet of paper in the area you're shooting, aim the camera at it, and do a "set white balance" operation. Look for it in your camera's manual (or explore the menus), and give it a try.

IMHO the silver looks much better and classier. The black looks like cheap plastic found in lower end cars.
