Simple enough.
RS5, E9e9, 1LW, N75... Just saying...

So, until some tuner release a flash for 2013 (hopefully it is possible), S4 cannot be compared to M3 if speed means something for you.

Buy a real transmission and your problem is solved. It will be tune-able within a couple months so it's not worth saying it isn't.

Really hope it will. ECU board layout is completely redesigned.

No one knows for sure that the redline is lowered. It may shift earlier with the S-tronic, but that doesn't mean the redline is lower.

It's also worth noting that facelift B8.5 S4 is just as fast in magazine tests as the B8 despite your claims.

It should be as fast in stock, that is obvious. In stock it never uses this extra 500 rpm range due to torque fade off.

BTW, check this link - http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4b8/msgs/33249.phtml

Also, highway pulls by real 2013 owner showed 2013 S4 is slower than G37, 2012 was quicker. Maybe this is a problem of one specific 2013 s4, but maybe not.

That was one person... Another guy on audizine took one out this morning and said it seemed like a B8 APR Stage 1. Take it for what it's worth.

I always thought and read that the stock S4s could take the G37. The 2013 S4 was a supposed to be a face lift, was that changed? Aside from the MMI of course.

BTW, the OP is looking for a daily driver, not a track car

Got distracted by the red bouncy ball.
If there is any chance of snow the S4 hands down, if not drive them both and go with what you love. Both excellent cars

Thought I'd chime in since I've owned both.

I had a 6MT M3 that was lemoned. It was a stripper, and it cost around $5K more than my pretty loaded S4. The M3 is definitely quicker, but it always felt a little clunky while driving like a responsible adult. It was an awesome car... great steering feel and very neutral handling. But I hated that I had to rev it up to 5K to beat a frickin Accord. On a track, I'm sure it would be awesome (never made it), but on the street for spirited driving, the S4 is a better car. It's much more comfortable (except for the seats) and the low end torque/quattro/differential make the performance much more accessible.

That said, you can't really go wrong either way.
