I called the dealer and they said the cost of replacing the adjustable dampers -- for ALL four -- wouldn't be $500. They said the dampers can even be replaced (if you wanted to) one at a time -- although they said unless you were replacing one that was "damaged" you would, normally, replace them all at the same time.

They also said they "rarely" go bad. The TV diff however is a different item and a good reason to "keep the car in warranty." This echoed what the salesrep said -- when I told him I was going to buy this one instead of lease it. He asked if I planned to keep the thing out of the warranty and he started telling me about the brake based "torque management" -- since he knew what I wanted was the red calipers, all he could do was apologize.
