Default Can I connect battery charger through DC

I just purchased a battery tender plus charger. I live in Connecticut. The car has summer tires on it and I don't see my moving the car until March(ish)anyway. Can I safely connect the charger through the DC (cigarette lighter) type plug found in the trunk of the car? Do I need to keep the trunk open to vent? Thank you much.

Based on my experience and starting with the B8, Audi disables the 12V charging outlets when the ignition is off. That said, where is your outlet in the trunk? My 2018 S4 does not have one.

Are you sure? Just inside the cubby on the right side. I don’t know if it’s powered or not when off. Is it possible it might work for purposes of charging the battery even if it is not powered when off?

That's how Porsche outlets work. They stay live for a while and when you plug in the charger within that time frame, it keeps working. Having said that, I know the receptacles in my S4's have not been live since my 2010 B8 but I will go look for the one in the trunk (if I find it) and see if it's live.

Wondering how you made out. Did you find the outlet?

Yes, I did and it's completely dead without the ignition being on...

I use a battery tender via the jump start points in the engine department.

I ended up using the eyelet type jumper wire(s) that came with the charger hooked directly to the battery posts in the trunk. Wire runs through the compact spare tire and exits out from under the trunk mat at the rear of the trunk.

This really is the only proper way to connect a battery tender to a vehicle.
