Not for a while, I suspect. They are still expensive. The new D5 A8 is out in a few months - that will give some clues.
In the Audi and BMW applications, they are used as a supplementary high beam spotlight within an LED cluster. Used like this, the benefit really only accrues for (very) high speed running on a straight. But the other way they could be used is in tiny headlight clusters which would offer similar output and spread to LED, but give designers a lot more freedom.

Ha! In my younger days, maybe. Now I just buy a car stock and live with what it has. It took me 6 years to get euro tail signals on my S4 - weeks before I'll be selling it now
