$26000 for a 2000 S4 WITH 37513miles?

Actually.... it's the price people are selling them...
that drives down the value of any item. Demand isn't that high, supply is apparently somewhat abundant... the price drops. $20k S4's aren't exactly common, but they're out there for sure. Given there are tons of other factors going on as well like the state of the economy and some people really NEEDING the money and selling their cars off cheap for quick cash etc... The S4 simply doesn't hold it's value, and you really can't put blame on a comment or a person. It's just what they sell for.
I'm not trying to bring you down, I know I'm going to sell my car later too and yes, depreciation kicks your ***. I never expected the resale to be this low, but it is... You can't really help it much unfortunately.

Dude ...
I'm just as disappointed with the resale value(s) of the B5 S4 as you, and agree that lowball sales and people taking less than "market" drive down resale in generaly. However, at the end of the day the value of your car is what the market determines and there are TONS of 2000 S4s with similar mileage for well below $26k. Each situation is different - condition, mods or stock, etc. - but it doesn't change the fact that he asked if $26k was a good deal and we all know that price is high comparatively.
I'm not out to sabatoge the very market in which my vehicle exists. Sorry your car isn't selling ... but you'll get the price you want if you wait for the right buyer. I'd bet if you dropped the price to the crazy **** we see people snatching them up at, yours would go too.
Finally ... your subject line makes it sound like my reply was heresay - it's obviously not - or that I'm letting the guy in on a secret that undermines sellers trying to get a better price. If I hadn't said it someone else surely would.
