Anyone here or knows someone that is running on AMS stage 1 with just K04 upgrade? More, TIA.
As in 710Ns and upgraded TBB but everything else stock as in stock exhaust & DPs. I understand that the K04s will require different intakes and other minor stuff etc. Just looking for the safest and most straight forward turbo replacements for the K03s. TIA.

Huh?..You Want 2 Run K04s With Stock Exhaust & DPs..I'd Seriously Suggest That U Upgrade Both
and the ICs (intercoolers) too, if you want to get the MOST performance from K04s.
In my opinion, you don't SKIMP when upgrading to Stage 2+ and above. Because you are asking your 2.7T to work (much) harder for the HP with a mostly stock set-up and K04s.

I ran stock software with K04s for a while, I had exhaust, but your setup will work fine.
You'll see a little more turbo lag.
Make sure you get the K04 inlet pipes from whoever you buy your K04s from. The inlet pipes are hard to find without buying K04s too as a package deal.

Well....That is a very grey area.
Technically, you modified the emissions system of the car. Most states frown on this. But since the 2nd O2 sensors are moved to behind the main cats, there is no Check Engine light. Therefore the car will pass most states emission testing.
If it were put it on a dyno and a sniffer put in the tailpipe, then would it pass??? I cannot say, but I feel that the emission system is heavily over-engineered and would pass. But I cannot promise. I can say with certainity that the emssion testing facility I go to does not have a 4 wheel dyno and the car would pass.

Yes, K03s Are Prone To Failure (Happened 2 Me When Stock), But Buying K04s For Reliability Is OVER-
kill, in my opinion.
If you are NOT pushing your S4 (and K03s)to the limit, then your K03s should hold up just fine. Remember, more K03s have NOT had failures versus the other way around.
So, if you're fearing K03 failure, then you must be PUSHING your S4 and if that's case, then you are BETTER OFF (IMO) spending the $$$ and COMPLETELY upgrading to stage 3(-)minus, or stage 3.
Just my $.02, but it's your wallet, so spend the $$$ as you please.

buy RS4 components SEPARATELY from ECS Tuning. Check their website, RS4 intake pipes are $549 (USD).
