Apr A-box: Upgrade to version 5.0?
Is there a consensus on whether 5.0 is better than 3.3 on A-box? A-box was supposed to be fast on v3.3, correct? Is the upgrade faster?
(I just picked up an APR chip, and haven't put it in yet, V3.3)

when i upgraded in my car A Box i noticed less of a "kick" down low but much more powerful and smooth across the rpm range. i think it is worth the upgrade..plus if you don't like it you can go back to v 3.3...give it a try

i had the 3.3 for a while. it may seem as though you have more torque down low, but i feel the powerband is much more even in the new version. and the chip's capable of posting damn good timeslips.

I would say yes. In the cold months, the difference between the two isn't as noticeable.
When it's hot out, v5.0 runs much better than v3.3. V3.3 has a little more initial kick, but from 4300rpm on up, v5.0 is stronger. My car ran very stronger on v3.3, but I must say I liked v5.0 better in overall power.

v3.3 was never fast on A boxes...

My car (A Box) put down good numbers @ Stage II w/ v3.3.
But when it was hot out, v3.3 fell off. That was my biggest issue with it. Hot weather performance suffered. Cold weather performance wasn't bad though. I don't know why other cars haven't been able to be run pretty good with it, but there are a couple A box cars here that ran v3.3 and ran pretty damn good.
If I end up moving to O-town, I'm definitely gonna have to check out your ride. I should be there in March for Tuner fest in Daytona.....we'll have to hook up.

Yea. The M/H box cars were very much down on power.
Don't know what the deal was, but they were more than 25whp lower than APR A boxes or other brands. The last v5.0 dyno I saw on a H box was impressive....it put down the same numbers as the X did...but I still believe that the X is a little faster.
