Assuming equal driver skill how would I do against a 2000 Trans Am in the 1/4??

It would be fairly close
Forget what the Pontiac website says, GM has been intentionally underrating these cars for several years. Since their introduction in 1998, each year, they have gotten more powerful, but not until 2001 did GM even bother to up the HP ratings by 5. Track results and dyno pulls suggest at least 350 crank HP and likely more. Most late model 6-speeds are pulling 305-315 rear wheel HP stock.
In any case, take a look at LS1.com to see what 2001 T/As are running (and dyno results). As I recall, the good drivers are in the low 13s stock with manual transmissions. Also, they run 106-109 MPH in the quarter, so they really haul on the top end. Launching is tough on street tires however, and about the best street-tire launch even a skilled driver can get is 2.0 60ft.
Finally, note that for a few $100, LS1s get even faster with things like new air boxes, cold air ram systems, reduced ratio accessory drive pulleys, exhausts, etc. With these items, a 2001 T/A can frequently get into the high 12s.
So far, I have not seen any S4s with time slips below 13.4. Thus, your results would depend on the year of the T/A, the number of mods on the T/A, the skill of the driver in the T/A, and of course, your driving skills.
Bottom line, don't get cocky.
P.S. My 2000 Firehawk (a limited edition, but generally equal performing variation on the T/A) ran 13.7 @ 105 stock and 13.5 @ 106 with just the air box mod. I didn't shift or launch well, I had a 2.2 60ft.

Re: im curious....
why do people who drive audi's care about drag racing. I drive an audi because its a serious ROAD car. I also have a lingenfelter corvette which goes fast and its fun to race in a straight line but the audi is still better on a road trip. bottom line there is ALWAYS going to be a faster car than yours...leave the drag racing mentality to the rice boys!

You're right, but '98 was the most powerful year.
It had the corvette's cam, and 24lb injectors, then in '99 they went to the current cam, and 19lb injectors.
When we dynoed my brother's car (stock '98 auto) it made 300 even to the wheels. Not bad in stock form.
and just so you know, it went 13:70 with a cut up air box on street tires, at Famoso (Bakersfield). Weather was hot and dry.

Hmmm... i agree and disagree
I don't care about drag racing, but we have seen people like Pat-SoCal lay some serious beating on the more common cars in teh drag race "scene". Yes the audi is a great road car, but if I am going on a road trip, I'll take my s500 benz--its great for those. The S4 is great for hauling around canyons and other more demanding areas. We all use this car for what we enjoy... let the man have some fun. =)

Saw a 2000 6spd run a 13.75@103.62 with a 2.333 60' as he
was lined up next to me. I did not have my S4 yet. 60F temps, 700 foot elevation. His first run ever with that car. Only mod was intake setup.
He ran a 13.5 after figuring out how to launch it.
