Default AWE Intercoolers installed ..impressions and pics..updated with better GrammEr... ;- )

Well the install wasn't as bad as getting the fvckin bumper off. Other wise the cutting was easy with a high powered dremel. Make sure to cut off as much as possible on the drivers side while still retaining the bolt hole. Driving around in the heat is great, car felt like it was 70out when it was 100+. Also I discovered a sweet sound while racing a RSX type S. I heard this engine whine like a high strung 4cyl which the RSX is. By the time I was well away from him 20 or so cars, I still heard it. So I did some WOT runs and sure enough I have this sweet mechanical whine now. I understand it gets even more noticable with DP's and no cats. The DPs are on the car and just need to be tightened up. The dealer is going to do some testing with their computers and see how the O2's are dealing with the missing cats. Then they said they can rig it so the light will stay off. The tech says he can use resistors but they also said they have a relay of some sort, they called it "the box" which will also fool the sensor?

Default you can run a diode to fool the ECU into thinking the cats are there.

Default Let's talk whine.

I installed my IC's this weekend and ever since I've noticed the dreaded dentist drill sound as the turbos spool up. It's a very faint sound but it's surely different from the sound I've always heard. I'm wondering if this new sound is just because of the larger IC's and not a sign of a bad turbo.

That's awesome that the dealer is sanctioning the O2 issue! Where is this?

Default That's not the dentist drill.

Can you hear it over the radio? If not, that's no dentist's drill.

Can you vary the pitch with the throttle? If so, that's no dentist's drill.

When my turbo went, I began to hear a police-siren/dentist's-drill noise over the radio, which was turned up a bit. Either the noise was there or not, depending on throttle position, but it didn't warble up and down like typical turbo noise.

Relax and install some downpipes. Those (or Piggie pipes) will get a lot of heat out of the turbo area and thereby promote long turbo life. That, of course, is the *only* reason i've got them.

They made some nice shrouds there too, too bad the inside isn't all finished like the outside.

Default Yep, the sound is right in line with throttle. It's very faint and can only be heard with the radio

off and if you're actively listening. My concern was/is that it's the beginning of the end. Again, it's a different sound then I've always heard.
