awe x and xr chip and revisions
hello, i currently am running the x chip, and mainly drive on the street. I was curious to know if all the "x chips" are the same; so when i add a dp and intake, exhaust, will i need it reprogrammed at all?
Also with the xr program i know 100 octane is recommended, but what if it was running water injection, good intercoolers, and maybe a mixture to make 95 octane. would this work? that would be sweet if i could make the xr chip to run well and adapt to my pump setup.
*please help*
thanks, chris

well..
You cannot run the XR chip on pump gas, but you might have mixed results with running at a mixed octane. You should call AWE and ask they will definitely be able to help you out with that.
Also from what AWE has told me all X chips are the same. You would only get different programing from GIAC if you did a turbo upgrade or wanted to try the XR chip... goodluck

Re: well.. ...
how can i run a crankcase evacuation system on this car to the atmosphere? will this cause any error codes due to the blocked off port on the intake of the unmetered valve cover air? how would i set this all up to the catch can, and what can i eliminate.
I have looked at diagrams, but once i get to the distribution block and there many tubes coming out of it, i get lost. i though it was simple, one on each bank, and block the intake, right, or?
thank, chris

Re: Just call AWE and ask them all your questions.
i dont really get straight answers there. I have just been sorta pushed off. They seem like they didnt have time for me, even after spending a good deal with them in the past weeks.
That is why i came to AW, you guys are very helpful. thanks for the help.

Sorry, really don't know anything about crankcase evac systems..
I've seen people do it though, have you tried searching the forums yet?
As for errors, I don't see why it would. What intake port are you talking about blocking off?

searched forums with only "in progress"...
it doesnt seem hard at all to do, i think i just overthink things. plus i am not a mechanic, so i would like my work checked. People on aw are trying these things out as i type, but i dont believe anyone is actually running a crankcase evacuation system. I can make it so it wont make the engine bay misted with oil vapors. Its quite simple, use a good catch can with a small micron filter(kn or better), and then just create a baffle system inside it with steel wool, or i have seen copper mesh used. I would really be interested in the "open" system since it could possible advance my ignition slightly because of better detonation resistance.
I want to do this soon i just need a little help.
