Default Back on The V8 S4

Ok, everyone is complaining about the S4 being N/A and underpowered, well sorry to tell you folks but i think that's exactly audi's point. No it's not going to compete with the M class, but if you want an audi that will you better expect to pay for it as well. S, is supposedly becoming the N/A models for audis, and RS will be the turbocharged upgraded engines with Cossworth racing. I could be wrong here, but i think Cossy signed to audi to officially start with the upgrades of their future models RS4, RS6, and whatever else they have planned for it. As none of the upgrades on the Current RS4 were done by audi, but cossworth took the base engine and turned it into something wicked, that could hang with most performance cars out there. If you look at the current RS6 same thing applies. This could be a good thing, as the pistons and everything else will be 10x's as good. Look what cossy did to fords escort, turned it from squirrel to beast. So you might want to dig deeper in your pockets if you want something that will run you 4.8 and lower in the 0-60. Then again this is just speculation, and something i heard from a friend overseas. It seems logical though, and right on point. This could be a good thing, maybe audi will get the TR30R turbocharger, which is perfect in everyway.

Default Has there been any test drives of the new S4 yet? I heard Auto, Motor and Sport drove it...

... so did anyone tape that episode?

Also, I'd reserve judgement til you actually drive it and read firm third party figures before magazine racing the thing.

I'm not knocking it at all, i like it actually. two of you guys misunderstood, the point i was getting @. I sure as hell wasn't calling the new S4 slow at all, and you can dream and hope for it to run sub 5 sec. then you can come back to reality and face the truth, i'll leave it at that.

My main point was getting at some theories on why the S4 doesn't have twin spoolers strapped to it, what audi may be doing to differentiate S and RS, and cossy signing with audi. Most speculation from a friend, and once again i state it seems logical, and present.

TR30R is a turbo used on the cossy escort, a de-tuned version of it. It's a turbo from garrett, that they use on the R8's, skoda rally cars, and the list goes on.

Default Audi decided to drop the turbos for a number of reasons. A main one was....

all of the folks that were messing with their cars, ending up with problems and then expecting Audi to cover the charges for the owner's mistakes/neglect.

Another main one is emissions.

And I'm very much in touch with reality.

There are going to be a lot of people eating their words when this car hits the streets in the U.S.

Default Audi owns Cosworth, but they do have contracts with other companies

still. Don't know if that will always be the case.

...but then again you have over $10K in upgrades... your car is not a typical S4
