Default Buying an s4

Hey all, I am hopefully going to be buying an s4 real soon! It's a used one with 92K miles on it, and it's a 00. First off, the car is gorgeous, with one small chip on the front bumper. It's immaculate otherwise. The only problem with it is, the vent button sticks. They guy told me it would be around $300 to get it fixed. Has anyone had a similar problem with this? If so can I do it myself? Thanks in advance for any info!

How much is the car going for? Should be able to spray something in there to get it to move.

Default Can't advise on cost, but this is what might have happened since it is a familiar scenario ....

It is easy to spill "something" if a cup is placed in the cupholder in the dash. This ends up getting into the climate controls (sometimes the radio also), thereby gumming the controls.

Have no idea how much it costs to have a dealer remove the radio (which is how you get to the climate controls), then remove the climate controls to clean them out.

If this is what happened, suggest you have him get it fixed and take $300 off of the asking/settling price. Unless you want to take it on yourself!

Lots of info if you do a search if you want to try to do it yourself. Tools to remove the radio are somewhere in the $10 to $30 range (can't remember **** these days as I bought some myself), and you can find directions on how to remove the radio and how to remove the climate controls in the tech section.

Good luck!

I am going to be paying $17K for the car. I am hoping this is a good deal, considering the book value is around 19+. Let me know what you guys think.

Default Use some spray on electrical contact cleaner

it dries fast, and is non conductive.. you can even try a damp cloth.
