Default calling WindyCityS4 : abs problem

I'm getting intermittent abs & brake warning lights and chime. You posted about broken wires under the hood?? ARe you referring to the group of several connectors on the driver's side by the abs block? It's a strange coincidence this happens after my new rosstech vag tool is in the mail.. I'll also activate my bentley CD but I'd like to make a quick visual inspection of the connector wiring. If it's not the wiring I'll open the abs box and check soldering. Can the vag tool tell me if one of the wheel sensor cables is broken? thanks

Default I was at the US GP, here is my experience...

This was actually done on JasonS4's car, but I helped him trouble shoot it.

There was a broken wire between the ABS controler under the back seat and the ABS system under the hood. Not sure where the break was, but we determined it was broken (or shorted to ground) using a resistance meter. The Bentley has a table in it that lists what the resistance between specific plugs to the controller should be. We found the set that was wrong. Fortunately, the wire coloring at the ABS controller and the ABS system under the hood are the same. We measured resistance between each wiring harness and determined which wire was "broken". In our case, I believe it was a blue wire with a red stripe.

Enter the ghetto repair....We cut the wire in the engine bay close to the ABS system. To the wire we attached a new piece of wire he had in the garage. Then we ran the wire thru the firewall, thru the ECU box into the cabin, down to the door sill trim, under the bottom b-pillar trim to the back seat. There we cut the shorted lead to the wiring harness. To the wire from the harness, we attached the new wire we ran down the length of the car. There is a significant reprogramming process for the ABS controller, I have it somewhere and could try to get it to you. After it was reprogrammed, started the car...all was working properly. The broken wire was left in place. The cause of the short will remain a mystery.

These are pics from JasonS4's poster

Here is the "splice" in the engine bay (note: The protective covering on the ABS system harness is removed. It was later re-installed)

Here is the splice at the ABS controller, under rear seat:

This was the before we ran the wire under the trim. We tested it outside the car to ensure it worked prior to going thru all the work to route it into the cabin and tuck it under trim pieces:
