I have a 2001 Audi S4 that since I purchased it in June 2005, has not had remote entry. I purchased a new key and key fob on eBay a few months ago, had the key cut and was told I needed a VAG-COM to make the key work in the ignition.

I tried the key without the Vag-Com and it works fine to start the car, but will not take programming. I recieved a key programming sheet from my Audi dealer and t will not work. I was told today that I need a new Central Locking unit/System $600...

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it? I could use any and all help as I would like to get my remote entry working. Thank you for any help.

You need to find one used (~$120-150) from a junkyard and replace the blades and center piece. I'd guess that if you open up your case, it will look like O.W.'s in the link. Find the pump, it's under that basket on the right hand side of the trunk. You have to pull up all the carpet and it's covered in foam. Unplug it and open it up to see if your blades are broken.

it's just my key fob that is not operable. I just pulled out the vaccuum pump as was described, all seems to be very intact on the inside. No broken or loose parts. Any other ideas? Thank you so much for the help
