I've got one of the first X/K/Ka band Passports I still use...
...and while I've seen the V1 get more lead time on warning, I haven't gotten a ticket from radar in many years; the key is looking ahead. Don't forget a lot of Passports can be found at pawnshops for under $100.

I believe the V1 is the best, regardless of price... (more)
Best sensitivity, best selectivity, best USEFULL features. Even if you CAN'T afford the V1,buy it! It has saved my butt countless times, and I have never been pulled - over when using it.

I've had a V1 for a while, after junking my old Escort, V1 way better, no comparison.
The Valentine picks up radar sources from the rear as effectively as front. It's like having a military AWACS setup in your car, you know where the cops are and where they are going.

I drove all the way to MIami and back with a Passport 7500 ......
Put it this way it worked, not a single ticket. On the other hand I was very close a couple of times and could really have used earlier warnings. If I had not been traveling with my son and been driving at a much higher rate of speed I definately would not have been able to slow down to the speed limit in time to avoid a ticket. So to me the ultimate question is how much warning do you need? Remeber that valentine 1 will not make you immune to instant on, Laser , pacing or the eye in the sky, so you need to know what system is used by cops in your area. Living in NYC there are only four places that cops really use radar guns so I either avoid them or drive slowly through them.
