could've been awesome: M5, M3,Supra, and my S4 on 101 north (GGB) this AM
i was heading to work over the golden gate bridge this morning and a silver M5 pulled right up behind me half way through the bridge (i could tell by the distinct lower front spoiler). As we came off the bridge into Marin and the lanes opened up, a yellow M3 and a Supra(non-turbo) come in behind me as well. If I didn't have only 250 miles on my car I would've loved to see how it did against these other bad boys. No one seemed to push anyways and by the time I got to my exit, the M5 continued on and I noticed that it was brand new as well since it didn't have plates yet either. It was cool regardless...for a few miles it was my S4 in front in the fast lane, followed by the M5, M3, and Supra...must have been a pretty cool sight for anyone else
--

The only one you'd have any trouble with is that M5. 300 ponies that move it like the C5!
As for the rest, why waste the sweat?

I drove one by the way...
torque everywhere and anywhere, all the way to the 7000rpm redline. A bit too quiet and the speed is just not noticeable. Off the line, unless the M5 is perfect, a chipped S4 will probably take it. However, once you start to climb towards 100mph watch out. I think the trap speeds were in the 107-108mph range. It is a real beast and THE midsized four door for the enthusiasts with $80k lying around.

He says that the new M5 performs just like the Viper; it is the only car that impresses him. Almost linear torque all the way through the band. If the $75K +dealer markup for a 4Door is your thing, then thismay be it...... but for me, I'd take the auomatic MBZ E55 instead....there's more room, and thats what 4 Doors are for.

http://www.hennesseymotorsports.com/</a

I sold me '00 E55 to get my S4 last month...Simple reason...Sports cars with automatics and ESP are not fun to drive...I would have taken an M5 if I could have bought one at sticker, but not 15K over. The S4 is the best bang for the buck...add a chip and exhaust and be real close to the 4000lb M5.
