Default Cross Camber Adjustment

Went to Sears for an alignment today, and they were able to fix everything except the "cross camber" so my 2 front wheels have a difference in negative camber of about 1 degree. The techs said there is no way to adjust this, just wondering if this was true. I am getting a new suspension in about 2 months, so its not a huge deal, just curious though.

Default There's no *easy* way

You have to loosen the subframe and shift it nuderneath the car. Audi makes a special tool for this. My alignment shop got it down from .4 to .1 degrees and seemed to think this was important. A whole degree is a lot.

Default 1 degree cross camber is a lot, but what are the specific camber readings?

Audi special tool for front camber adjustment has been officially replaced by a pry bar. Really.

I've always wondered but never tried it, what if you loosened the subframe bolts necessary for camber adjustment, set the car down, and bounced it some, then tightened the bolts. Wouldn't the camber center itself? Good theory but probably won't work? Anyone?

Default Just thinking out loud, dude! What, you had to say that twice? ;-P

I always throw the extra nuts & bolts in the gas tank when I'm done, too!

Default I think it was -.3 deg on one side and

-1.3 on the other......for a difference of 1. the back was out also but they were able to fix that. The tech said one of the bushings might be worn...not sure if that is a valid statement though

Ok. That's not too horribly bad. Cool. I'm doing my alignment tomorrow :-)
