Default Dealer told me its $50 to retrieve my radio code. Does that seem right?

They said they have to hook up a computer to the car. The computer would retrieve some radio number. They would then have to call audi with the number and audi would issue a radio code.

Does this sound like overkill? Can't they just look it up based on the VIN?

Default Where is the card with the code? They should be able to pull the number off the back and call for

the code. It sounds extreme to do that.

Well, I don't have the original owners manual. Still should be easier though.

Default I remember being told that you pull the unit go to dealer and give them number off the

back and they should be able to give you the code.

Default Did you buy the car from them? FWIW, my dealer told me Audi now requires that the car be hooked up..

to the computer, so AoA can verify that it is the correct car and the radio is not stolen. Have there been problems with stolen radios out of S4's? It seems like it wouldn't really be worth stealing, even with the Bose unit. Since I bought the car certified from them and they forgot to include the radio code card, the service manager offered to do it at no charge. Generally speaking, though, any time a technician has to touch the car, it's gonna cost 50 bucks.

Only reason I would see if someone sells their head unit because they went with aftermarket.

Default do '00 have radio codes?

I had my battery disconnected for several days for stage3 install. When I reconnected it the radio worked fine.

I love how you can steal the car with a screw driver, but can't take out the radio worth a *bleep*
