Did the VW O2 sensor swap today....
Pretty cool that the $180-200 Audi sensor can be replaced with a $18-22 VW sensor with little modification. Now you guys that said you took the plug apart I couldn't figure it out and just went the cut and splice route.
The VW replacements (Part # 06A906262Q) wires were about 12" longer that the OE one (drivers side front) so I cut and spliced to the same length.
The one saving grace was the new Snap-On extension I bought today ($40) it is 2' long and was made for a 3/8" socket but had the drive end of a 1/2". Using a 1/2" drive the sensor broke free pretty easy.
Total cost for replacement $60 (including new tool)..Savings $120-140 :-)
