Do you find the S4's 1st gear short?
I test drove a 6-speed A6 2.7T recently. The shifting action (long throws) was less than ideal. I knew this going in, but I didn't expect first gear to be so short. Redline came at about 25 mph in 1st gear. I assume that the transmission and gear ratios are the same between the S4 and A6 2.7T. So you S4 owners, do you find this a problem?

YES! (more)
I find all of the gears too short! especially 1st and 6th. IMHO the final drive ratio should have been 10- 15 % taller. This would have made all of the gears more suitable and resulted in a better "highway" cruising gear. I find that I cruise above 3200 rpm most of the time. What a shame when there is so much torque down low!!!
I think Audi may have done this for economic reasons as this is the same tranny as the new 6spd Boxter. I suspect the gear ratios may be the same for both cars.
