Ice everywhere yesterday. Asian woman in front of me slams on her brakes. My S04's and anit-locks let me start slip slip slidin away. Impact is looking inevitable, I start honking, to no avil. She stays put.

RS/4 Grille is toast. Hood has two sizeable dents around the grille area, but it pushed the hood release lever into the radiator, and I lost all my antifreeze. Pulled the S over, called roadside, and now I'm awaiting an estimate.

New hood, new radiator. Perhaps one new headlight casing. Any guesses on the estimate?

I was thinking ~3k.

I managed to clip a sign post after skidding (and not recovering quite in time) in my Nissan Pickup a couple of winters back, damaging my hood, bumper, passenger headlight, grille and pushing the quarter panel far enough back that I could not open the passenger door without denting more metal. My guesstimate, and the shop's: about $1800. Final bill to my insurance: $3700. And that's just on a Nissan. Can't imagine quite what it'll cost on a 'spensive German mistress...
