Eventful conversation at the gas station . . .
I pull up to the pump at Costco in Richmond, CA to fill up the Blue Menace at $1.23/gal for 91 **** (Chevron supplied this week). I pull behind an older gentleman (John, age 72) who was filling a 90's Scooby Legacy wagon, metallic royal blue. His eyes lit up and he immediately points to my hood & smiles. I get out & he says, "This is the first car I've seen in blue that I like better than mine!" We have a little conversation about the car and he asks me what it is and I give him the usual rundown because he didn't recognize the rings. He said, "That's a sporty car. Oh, no it's not, it's a 4-door." I then told him it IS a sporty car and not to let the extra 2 doors fool him.
We proceed to talk about his cabin close to Kirkwood, which he offered to let me rent from time to time after I gave him my business card. (Samir & Bryce, it's on for Kirkwood one of these days!) We chat about snow conditions and we finally said our goodbuys. He gets in his car, starts it and I realize that he just had a senior moment . . . THE PUMP IS STILL ATTACHED TO HIS CAR!!! I immediately thought about that picture that was floating around of the BMW 5 or 7 series with the pump nozzle & hose still attached while driving on the road and said to myself "I know he's not gonna drive off". Surely enough, he puts it in gear and I sprint to his window, knock on it & alert him to the danger he was in.
He gets out and says, "Holy ****, I can't believe I almost did that! Thank you for stopping me or else I would've blown this whole place up." He removed the pump, closed his gas tank and thanked me again before leaving. It was amusing and scary at the same time. Very nice man though! :-P

A woman did that today at the station I went to...
I pulled up and noticed a little black Mercedes trying to back up into the pump I just pulled into--then I noticed the nozzle and hose on the ground, between the pump and her car. Doh!
She looked R E A L L Y embarrassed.
Funny, the first thing I thought of was that same image of the BMW driving off with the nozzle.

I actually drove off one time with the nozzle in my car.
I actually drove off one time with the nozzle in my car. It just so happened to be in Richmond, CA. I pulled up to the gas station and proceeded to fill up at the self-serve. I checked the oil, got back in my car and drove off! As I was driving off I felt this tug on my car. Thank God the hose has a quick release. It separated about half way up the hose. I felt like a total ***.
