Default Not sure what wears "breaks", but for "brakes"...Heat kills pads so...

repetative short hard braking is worse than infrequent long braking. The cooler you keep the brakes, the longer they last.

Default haha, yeah brakes. I'm talking about daily driving, and that is what I originally thought but

it kinda makes sense that if you apply your brakes softer for a longer amount of time, there would be more contact time with the rotor which could equate to more heat...no?

Default Well, shorter, harder braking also puts more force on the pads / rotors. I have no idea how to

compare the two, though.

Default Technically if you're going 30 mph and stop within 1 second or 20 seconds...

the brakes are doing the same amount of work... effectively the same wear. But practically, I'm sure gradual stops are easier on pads and rotors than hard stops.
