Ming 2.7T

Two A6 2.7T's did some 0-60 runs last weekend. One was a 6 speed with APR chip only, the Tip was running GIAC ECU and Tip Chips.
The 6 speed: ***## Driver ran it with ESP on!!!!!

SUmmary for 6 speed:
Awful quick car to launch. Can tell it will destroy Chip Tip at the start, Tip can't get the rpm's up high enough to compete at launch. The 1-2 shift is key. Seemed to be a hard shift to nail correctly and slowed the time down. And remember driver had the ESP on and may have caused some increase in the times.. Once the 1-2 shift is perfected concensus was that mid to low 5's are possible on regular pump gas.

## note: front tires where turned alittle so it looked like an exciting launch since the car went to the side alittle!!!! OOPS!! Caused the higher time for this run.

Summary for Tip:
Tip launches fairly good. You can tell from the splits on the AP that 0-10 it is close but after that it loses ground till the 6 speed has to shift 1-2, then the tip makes up some ground, goes through its own shift, loses a little ground but less than the 6 speed shift.

Word on the AP meter:
To get it calibrated right they are taking it to Carlsbad Drags to set it up while running the 1/4 mile. Otherwise you dont know if you have all the correct settings for your car.

Word on Gtech:
The gtech has been used while at Carlsbad and its 1/4 mile times are almost always within .05. The Mph is consistently about 2 mph faster than the track. Maybe due to the track measuring last 60' and 60' beyond finish line and Gtech posts the speed right at the 1/4. Dont know about the 0-60 times , could be a hair optimistic. Also Gtech has been known to have trouble timing manual cars because of the hard launches and the up and down motion when shifting. But I would say when lined up properly on an automatic 0-60 times would be within .05-.10.

You can see that when the car gets up to mormal operating temps the time for the Tip dropped some.
THe COLD time of 5.48 is consistent as a best case time and was duplicated at Carlsbad 5.50 and 14.027 1/4 mile(Timeslip)Gtech was running and recorded 14.00 at 101 mph.
It would seem reasonable to say that at normal temps a chipped Tip will run 5.7's and ~14.3-14.4's 1/4 miles(with spare in). Still very respectable. But the chipped 6 speed will have it for lunch if shifted correctly. Also a note that the 6 speed got to 60mph in a shorter distance than the Tip, although on that run thr Tip has its tires turned at the start and ran 6.0's
