Default Greetings from a total newbie

Hello folks,

Just wanted to post an intro as a new member and just acquiring my first Audi!

As the family car nut my father-in-law asked if I would like to have his B5 S4 he's had since new - he's getting on these days and wasn't using the car much and wasn't feeling the love for driving a manual like he used to.

What a stroke of luck for me because I am totally smitten with how the car drives. I'm originally from the UK, now living in Atlanta. I used to be a BMW fanboy (e30 325i, e36 M3, e87 130M, e90 M3 and 335d) till one row too many with the dealer in England led me to fall out permanently with the brand.

I used to think Audi's were inferior to their huge rivals for the usual reasons - NA straight 6 better than V6 Turbo, weight distribution etc - but you'll be glad to hear I have seen the error of my ways now!

Sure this S4 is a touch heavy at the nose but I have found the quattro traction more than makes up for that. BMWs are just far to common now and the factor that really switches me on to the Audi is the incredible build quality, way superior to any BMW built sine the 80s. I just adore how much of a sleeper the B5 S4 is and how much potential it has for tuning.

So I am really looking forward to learning all I can about this car and connecting with fellow fans.

The incredible thing about this S4 is the history - one owner, Audi Main Dealer serviced and get this.. 21800 miles!!

It's in Nogaru Blue with what seems like very option ticked- alcantara seats, BOSE system etc.

My problem is I already have too many cars and too little space - deciding which one has to go is proving impossible.

I only got my F Type last year so would lose a chunk if I sold it now. The RR Sport has to stay as the much-loved family bus and I have just spent a bomb on my wife's Merc Wagon which we decided to hang to as it's in great shape and has the little jump seats in the back so can carry seven when the need arises.

I would really be interested in what you guys think the car is worth - KBB & Edmunds says $4k which seems ridiculously low and Carfax says $18k when I put in the VIN. I really want to give a fair price for it.

I am trying to persuade my wife (and myself) that it could be an appreciating modern classic but having looked around most opinion seems to say no. If of anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for reading..

All the best,

Default NICE :)

Great find-Sounds like you've a genuine time-capsule.... It's the "right" color with the "right" interior....
Is it a manual or automatic....Stock or tuned ?????
Has the timing belt service been done----count years not miles!
Also- don't forget about fluid changes---power steering, gear oil, tranny oil, brake fluid and the flexible brake hoses.as well as ALL filters and new tires.....Again it's years not miles.....
IMHO you've a $10,000 to $15,000 automobile provided it's a stock manual with ALL of its' service complete and documented .
Invest in a good detailing inside and out......engine compartment, wheel wells and underside...The sale will take some time but you'll find an anxious buyer.
Question- what year???? In Model Year 2000 there were only 453 Nogaro 6-sp Audi's sent to North America out of a total of 5,416.
GLWS !
PS- post some photos!!!!!!
PSS- I thought my 65,000 mile 2000 B5 was special- Guess not

Thanks so much for the reply! The advice is much appreciated and I'm on the same wavelength. I've spent that last couple of day giving the car a thorough detail (plenty more to do!) and I'll be getting the car serviced asap - trying to figure out if it's worth paying the Dealer (they supplied it and has been looking after it) or finding a specialist. Thanks for the heads-up re the timing belt, it was done in 2009 with a water pump and sounds like it's due another which I was thinking wouldn't be necessary given the mileage.

It is a manual 2000MY so that's fascinating its one of 453 for that year, thanks a lot for sharing that one. I wonder how many had the suede seats and the BOSE system. It is bone stock too.

Once I'm done with the detail I'll be sure to post some pics.

Oh yes, when researching I couldn't found one less than 85000 miles so you I'd say yours is pretty special! thanks again for replying and for the info
