has anyone ripped apart the auto-dimming mirrors? how do they work?
wondering what it'd take to retrofit my car with those.
is there a separate control module somewhere, or is it all self-contained within the center and side mirror assemblies?

Yes, there are 2 wires that connect to the glass
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/17977/dsc01206.jpg"></center><p>You can see in this pic 2 wires going down out of the housings, those connect to the mirrors.

Drive one that has them before you go thru the trouble
The only sensor is in the center mirror, so cars in adjacent lanes don't cause them to darken. I still have to motor the side mirrors downward at night.
