Have people had problems with chips? Turbo failure etc...
#2
Well...
Yes and no and maybe
Chips increase how hard the engine and turbo work but there is no direct tie between a chip alone blowing a turbo. Many causes for turbo failure can go as far leaky hoses, bad bpv's, improper oil levels/quality/oil change intervals, other malfunctioning parts that are not fixed, improper warmup/cooldown (oil pressure issues on startup and sludging of oil on turbo spindle and mechanisms if ample time is not given to cooldown) etc. Or simply you had a turbo go bad or old version.
The S4 was designed to be driven hard but adding a chip can increase the chance of something going wrong. If you are a light foot and drive spiritedly very occasionally then chipping may not give you problems if you maintain the car during normal intervals and prevent boost leaks.
Try the chip/turbo survey and judge for yourself...<ul><li><a href="http://audiport.com">Sruveys</a></li></ul>
