Help Jim D, and other gurus: drivers window trouble
Cross posted from the A4 forum- too many gurus over here to not post...
Hello all,
Living in Nothern California, there's what, maybe 60 days a year of non-blue sky, and maybe only 10 dounpours a year? My car, sensing one of those very days, decided to jam the drivers window in the down position. Ahhhrrrggggg. (This is the first problem for this 96 A4 in almost 100,000 miles, so my only complaint is the timing).
The dealerships are back-up and busy until the end of the month, so I'm looking to see what's possible to do myself. Anyone have experience getting in there.
Symptoms: I don't think the motor is dead, as I still hear a little whiring. I believe the window is now totally out of its track. There were a few cracking sounds as I tried to get the window up from the "half-way" position (didn't sound like glass cracking, but it was certainly unpleasent). What is the interface between the window and the motor? Is removing the door panel hard?
Any insight you might provide is appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter

Can't help w/ the cause, but poss. temp fix:.
You may be able to raise it by turning the key in the outer door or using the remote if programme dfor this.
Same thing is wrong with one our MB E430's rear seat windows currently and although the inside buttons won't budge it, the remote will raise and lower it.
