Default Help pressure leak....

Took in my A6 2.7T today because of poor gas mileage and weak acceleration below 3K rpm.
Good news there was no waiting to get the mechanic to check it out, and no fault codes found.
Bad news, on the test drive with the portable system attached at 2400-rpm low boost pressure as found with high turbo speed. At 5k rpm boost was normal but turbo speed was very high. The mechanic then tried pressurizing the intake up to 5 psi with a special Audi tool but did not find a leak; it also did not leak down. I suggested that he try 15 psi but he said the book limited it to a max of 7 psi. The mechanic faxed all the readouts to Audi now waiting for an answer.
Dose anyone have any suggestions.
PS it is not the TBB I took it off Friday and check it.<p>Russ
