How can I find out the head unit code? Bought used...
Hello, I recently bought a 2001 S4 with the Bose stereo. My head unit is functioning perfectly right now, however I want to un-plug my batery to take my ECU out for chipping ( r to see if it is allready chipped). If I do this I will need to put the code in I never received the owners manual to this car so I have no idea how to get the code. Any ideas? Can I get this from a dealer if I give them my VIN#? Thanks a lot for any help!

it's printed on your service receipt from the dealer and in the manual on the radio card
inside the cover, or you pull the radio and get the serial # and then all the dealer has to do is enter ANY valid VIN and the serial # of the radio and he can generate the code

if you have access to a set of radio removal tools, you might find it printed on top of the head....
unit itself. That's where mine was. It was obviously in the manual on the "Radio Card" but when i pulled my radio, I was suprised to find it there too.
It's pretty easy to take a quick look - it's a 4 digit code.
You dealer should also be able to find it by VIN if it's the original factory radio.
