Default How does one remove the In-Dash Cup Holder?

I'm not willing to start pulling on it without some informed advice!!!
Searched and checked the Tech section, but couldn't find a how-to. I'd also like to put it back again, so hopefully someone can tell me non-destructive instructions

Thanks!

First you need to remove the trim piece around the cup holder and buttons. I used a piece of plastic to slowly pry off the trim, take your time. Once this is done you the rest is easy. Four tabs hold the cup holder in (two on the top and two on the bottom) place. Depress the tabs and remove the cup holder.

Default Thank you! (one more question if you please)

The slider has gotten a bit sticky, due to some spilled 7up. It takes some time to open on it's own now (especially the initial inch of travel). Have any advice on cleaning it without removing the trim? I'm thinking maybe rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip????

Unless you spill and get muck into the radio. I never use it for drinks.

Ethanol and plastic are not usually a good mix. Don't know what grade of plastic it is, but I'd probably use warm water and a mild detergent if it were mine. I drink coffee black and diet coke, so my spills don't turn sticky =)

Default Believe me, Diet coke will definitely turn sticky!

Personal experience here. I still have a couple of climate control buttons that are sticky.
