How many ft-lbs torque does the Oil Pan Drain Plug require? I STFA and found 40 Nm (29 ft-lbs?)....

Default Sounds about right...
though I probably put 15-20 tops on mine. It never leaks a drop, and when it's time for the next change, I'm thankful that I didn't put a lot of muscle into it. Same goes for the filter. Besides, the pan is aluminum (soft). If you overtorque, you're going to kick yourself.

Default Did he ever publicly own up to that?
It still can't understand how he cracked the bolt before stripping out the pan. Makes NO sense to me.

Default oh, i dunno, I always thought the public consensus was that he had too much
spinach before doing his oil change.
