Default how many people have had warped rotors w/o tracking their car? 10,700mi and my rotors were

replaced yesterday. It came out of nowhere. I went to Dr. Piggie's in the morning and had some goodies put in, then on the way home(15-20mins expressway) the rotors were just gone. Moderate braking would make the front of the car shudder, and you could feel pulsating on the brake pedal(not ABS like pulsing). Naturally, the car braked like **** as well.

Took it to dealer who promptly gave me new rotors and pads(x4) in 1.5 hours. Every pad had a chunk out of it. Are the brake setups on these cars really that bad? This is only after 10,700 miles!

I'm interested in how common this problem is.

Default Re-lathed 2 sets on my A6 2.7Ts. Only fix was getting them cryoed contrary to popular opinion.

Default Often the cause for non tracked warpage is over torqueing the lugs . . .

many here have numerous track days on the original brakes. Many more have warped them at track days I think though.

nah, I just wasn't aware that rotor warpage was a potential consequence of over-torqueing the lugs

Default Yes, apparently impact guns at sloppy tire places are often the culprit.

I have seen this happen on numerous 3 series bimmers that went for brake and/or tire work.

Twice, not from tracking, but from intense twisty maniac driving.

Default One of the S4's i test drove had 90miles on it and the rotors were warped.

The salesman was "unaware". You couldn't have paid me to buy that particular car.
