I'm in the market for a 2001 S4 with leather, 6 speed, moonroof and anywhere from 15k - 30k miles.

I have a trade-in so I'll be looking at dealer retail prices. I'm thinking $36k-$38k depending on miles. Is this too high or too low.

Also, what should I look out for in terms of abuse? Is there a way to tell if the car has been chipped previously (I'm assuming the chip would get pulled before it goes up for resale).

I'm hoping to be a new s4 owner soon but dealers in No. Cal. are asking anywere from 36k -41k for a 2001. I don't want to get ripped.

Expect around $20K w/out leather, but $34K with. :P

We just paid $32600 for a 2001.5 S4 with every option available (except phone and 6 CD changer). It had 23800 miles and we bought it at a dealer. BTW.... color is silver.

If it was nogaro, you would have paid at least $35k. Silver loses its value almost as fast as a tip

you should try to talk them down lower. Private party that kind of car you can probably have for low 30's easy. A few months ago I paid 30K for 00 6speed with low 30K miles through a dealer. Things are a little different in Cali though :-/.
