I am a jackass in need of help...
I was getting back in the car after some time at the gym, and I managed to drop my key down in between the right side of the driver's seat, and the transmission tunnel. At first, I could see it, and touch it with my fingertips, but it has since slipped into oblivion. After looking and feeling around for fifteen minutes, I walked home and grabbed my spare.
When I got home, I moved the seat every whichway, probed around with my hands, and a retreiver tool, and used a flaslight to see what I could see...
I can't see a thing, and the key seems to have dematerialized. Has this happened to anyone else?
Advice appreciated. I'll feel like a real idiot if I have to go to the dealer to have my seat removed in search of a car key.
Thanks.

Good luck. Did the same thing w/a cd last week, took 45 min. to get it out.
I used a hanger to fish for it and managed to get it out without scratching the cd. It just takes time and some scratched up hands.

There's two bolts that hold the front of the seats down.....
There's no place for your keys to fall into permanant oblivion.
If you take the two bolts out, you'll be able to pivot the seat off the floor while the back of the seat stays on the rear track.
If you move the seat all the way back you'll see two plastic covers that cover each bolt. IIRC, the bolts are allen bolts about 5mm. Once you take those two bolts out, you'll be able to see the whole floor under the seat. Any money you find there is MINE!! =)

I dropped the cig lighter in that spot...
It was a real pain, but by shining the light from the floor of the driver's side in front of the seat, I could barely make it out. I used the long snake tool withe the claws on one end and the spring retractor on the other to pull it out. Your key should be bigger unless you detached it from the remote ring. The spot is just inside the railing towards the back of the seat. You need to push the seat all the way back. It took a lot of patience to get my lighter out. I'm condidering putting some foam rubber in there now.
Good luck!

Well... problem solved...
I dropped in on my parents this evening. My mother has small hands, and was able to feel and retrieve my key in less than twenty seconds... Small hands are the key.
Thanks for the advice.
