I CONVINCED MY DAD TO CHIP THE S4!! MTM? APR? GARRET?

Garrett gives just as much power through more of the band...
Also, it is easier to switch between stock and garrett when getting serviced. I just got mine today, and love it. The APR chip is excellent, from what I have heard, but the Garrett has been shown to give more of the power to higher RPMs.<p>'01 Silver S4

APR....EMCS, great support, free upgrades, throttle adaption from the turn signal stalk.
Also, anyone who quotes the chip tests about performance needs to let you know that the APR chip tested in the shootout was a tiptronic chip, not a 6 speed version. The tip chip was installed in a 6 speed manual car. I would consider that a huge problem, and any results would not be indicative of true performance. I have heard that there will be another dyno test done with the correct ecu in the future.

IMO, the GIAC chip is more refined .
It has more top end, and the turbos spool faster . And it is easy to control the extra power because the DBW throttle plate, and load factor are perfectly calibrated to your input.

My new EMCS feels pretty smooth too.
I have heard good things about the GIAC chip, but everything I have heard has been just like your post....it's more refined, and has more top end....completely subjective. Where in the US can top end be tested......
Gimme some dyno graphs, and not of the tip APR chip in the 6 speed S4 like the last ones.
I can't wait for the next dyno tests....

PS, not trying to be a dick, but my APR EMCS ecu I got today feels pretty darn smooth. I've had the regular APR chip since april, and upgraded to the new code and had them put in EMCS with the stock, stage 1, and race programs in this week. The new stage 1 program feels much smoother then the old version. It feels smoother then my stock ECU I've been using this week even...

Most of the big name chips perform as advertised. Beyond that, it's personal preference.
And for me it is not subjective, because I have tried just about all of them. Still, it's just my opinion and nothing more.

Tip ECU's in 6spd cars
Nothing to do with preformance.......the engine will pick up a "no transmission DTC"......but it does disable the engine.....etc.
2ndly, the NON ECMS APR chip that was tested in the silver car was pulled straight from a 6spd car
