I don't think I need a V1- but I do think I need an 8500. Or do I?

Default Consensus seems to be Logic mode (small "L").

"All bogeys" mode gets a bit annoying having to hit the mute button all the time while "advanced logic" doesn't report minor X-band at all. "Logic" mode, with the small 'L', seems to be a good compromise; in this mode, unthreatening X-band is reported automatically at the muted volume.

Default Well, my previous 8500 saved my @ss a million times too but that's not the point.

Any of the higher end radar detectors will be able to save you in most situations. The advantage I see in the V1 is that it gives you the ability to drive aggressively more.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT promoting unsafe driving!

Just saying that, for example, with the 8500 (which is a very good radar detector) I would almost always hit the brakes and become a model citizen when it sounded because you could never really tell what the signal was. And you have to stay off the gas longer because you're not sure if you're passed the threat or not. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just means less time enjoying the performance aspects of the S4. On the other hand, the V1 gives you a much clearer awareness of what's going on around you and you're able to return to aggressive driving more quickly.

Hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself by saying this. ;-)

Default Thanks. Ok couple of follow ups: Best place to buy V1 online? And

Best place to mount?
Does anyone have it hardwired- where and how?
Will it work through tinting if visor mounted?
