I don't think I need a V1- but I do think I need an 8500. Or do I?

only place to buy it new is valentine1.com. mine is drivers side next to the rearview mirror.
the hardwiring directions are in the tech section in multiple places. the s4 tint strip is pretty short and i've experienced no degradation in performance in my other cars when mounted there.

Buy it directly from Valentine.
Mount it with the suction cups just below the tint line next to the rearview mirror.
Almost everyone has it hardwired; it's easy and there are lots of instructions and pics in the tech articles and archives.
Don't mount it on the visor, the tint does reduce it's sensitivity I believe (not 100% sure though).

http://www.valentine1.com</a

Just bot one. Website says behind tint mount loss is offset by
gain of no hood sunlight reflection. I have a silver hood (and, er, car) so would have lots of sun reflected if dash mounted.
Guess I'll keep it up high .

tech section write up is okay. i like using the studs behind the fuse panel for power better than
fuse-tap or expando-circuit thingies. the V1 hardwire thingy has a fuse in it anyway.
i'm looking forward to finding the time to install my remote mute/volume **** ala LI-S4.
