Default I guess I am now an official #$*(&^# S4 owner, G-d damn it #$&^$#&^.....

Car is not broken in yet, bone stock. I leave to meet the wife for lunch. Car is warm, so I hit the gas a little, not much, car is still under 600 miles...

Hmmm, whats that sound? Lemme hit the gas some more... Ooooh, that did sound right. Wait, it's an S4, not familiar with it's peculiarities, let it ride...

Hit the gas some more after waitng at a light. Ohh, the definitely sounds odd.... Kinda like valve tap, can't be ping, just filled with 93... brand new stock car, hmmmm...

Ok, rev at idle, no, it's not a rattling heat shield, wierd. Only happens under load... get off the gas, goes away, but pops back up when under load... Wait that sounds "airy", nah, couldn't be.... bpv, already!?! TBB?!?! Lemme hook up the vag... Damn, no codes, feels strong still, hmmmm....

Any ideas folks?

Fine. Dandy. now I got TWO turbos to fret over...

Sounds airy/rattly, load only, starts at about 2500-3k, turbo whine present and sounds fine, definitely different from turbo....

Default If under load only, might be a BPV

Valve 'ticking' is normal until 5K or so.

Default Really. These engines have a valve tap sound under load, load enough...

to hear with the windows down? I can definitely hear the sound outside when I am going say 20 mph, and hit the gas. I didn't notice it when the engine was cold, but seems to get worse when warm.

Might have blown a IC hose, might be the TBB or could be the BPV's.

Default Alrighty check the engine functionality first

Boost request vs actual
Mixture
Timing/knock sensors
Load

Then move on it other things. Happen when coasting? in what gears does it happen?

Default VERDICT....

Ok, Wonder if this is a record. 275 miles, and......

Blown BPV valve.. Thats right, BPV valve.

710N's go on Wednesday. Dealer ONLY replaces these with the "N" valve thank you, saving me some booze money.
