I have eibach pro springs on my 2000 s4 and the bumps during city driving are making me crazy,
if I got different shocks, will that help to make it a more comfortable ride or worse, and which should I get - bilstien.

Here is what I did.
I had a set of H&R sport springs and grooved Bilstein shocks installed about 3 months ago and I hated the ride quality when I hit dips in the road or bumps because the front would bottom out on the rubber stoppers on the shocks and bounce me back up. I took the H&R springs out and kept the Bilstein shocks but had a machine shop groove another notch on the shock so that it would lower my car 1.25" from stock in the front and I put back my stock springs. The ride is 100% better. No more bottoming out. Right now my car sits at 25.5" from ground to fender and it looks pretty good. Looks better at 25" but that makes the front end really low. Anyway, if you need more info, just e-mail me. Lowering is very subjective as some people can tolerate a harsher ride. I just wanted something that will lower my car to get rid of the big gap and a little of the floatiness and nose dive and by just changing out the shocks, I accomplished what I wanted. Good luck.

Bilsteins are valved for stock spring rates and have a lot of high compression dampening designed...
in. This design is best matched to a soft spring rate. The Eibachs are rated very close to spec of the stock spring rates. Stock are 348 Front/292 Rear with Eibach Pros being 360 Front/270 Rear. Bilstein/Eibach makes logical sense. I run them and am more comfortable than stock and have increased the suspension performance 100% with the addition of sway bars and tighter links and braces. This is the road racing dream set up, IMHO.
