I have to give APR props. V-tune
APR has always been the technology leader in my book. Their EMCS was out before anyone's, it's seamless, built into the car, no gimmicks just functional options. Everything about it is darn nice, the integration (the engineering work put into the chip/EMCS programmer etc). It is still after what 2-3-4 years second to none and still has a very high bar that I don't feel anyone has reached (In terms of technology and implementation).
Then they came out with the security lockout, again the first company to act upon an Audi need, again built right into their EMCS system. If you already had the EMCS it took a simple phone call or web order and you were sent a license key and bingo your car was protected by anything short of a tow truck, tow bar, or someone replacing the ECU!
Now they add a solid software component V-tune to the offering and it's "free" right now. It appears that the software package is pretty thought out, not only does it look visually appealing, meaning they had talent and spent some money having the application designed and written, but it's quite functional.
I just wanted to throw that out there. You all know that I have always felt APR has been the leader in technology and at the same time had a few issues in terms of power delivery, but as I stated the other day, which was taken wrong by Mark, it's good to see APR in the saddle again. I like to see them delivering new products, ideas and "stuff" to the Audi community.
And ya, right now it's free, so I can't bang them on price (Sorry to disappoint!)
Nice APR keep it up.

Yes, they are definitely a leader
Their technology is definitely the most complete and advanced. They keep lifting the bar higher and I hope that all the other tuners take up the challenge.
Their advanced technology is the main reason that we started carrying APR. I'm very impressed with their customer service as well. I'm a very happy APR dealer. V-Tune is definitely an awesome technology, although I have my doubts that most people will understand the technology well enough to use it properly/safely. I'm hopefully going to be able to spend some time playing with V-Tune on the dyno here soon.

IMHO, hopefully APR will create the software "dummy" proof...i.e. not allowing past a unbearible
amount of boost, screwed up A/F ratio etc...
This way, people will be able to tune their car anywhere from completely stock, to the highest acceptable level that APR has designed software for...
Does any of this make any sense or do i need some sleep?

inside...hope it answers some questions

V-Tune is an application that will allow for the modification of certain parameters of engine management. Specifically, V-Tune will allow you to change Boost, Timing, A/F ratio, Idle speed, etc... There is an option for advanced fuel control which should only be used by those with knowledge of engine tuning. Changes to this portion of V-Tune, if made improperly, can effect your engine in a less than desirable way. Thus modifications will be made at your own risk. These changes will be made via the V-tune Software provided by APR thru either our Direct Port Cable or thru a VAG-Com Diagnostic (serial) cable.
V-Tune will be available to current DPP customers and new customers at no additional charge (until the end of March when it will be offered as a feature, like FCE/TBA). This option will be available for DPP initially, though we will begin to offer this feature to EMCS chip owners shortly.
I stole this from one of Jeremy's posts, APR sales rep guy.

is it just me or does that interface look really cheesy? for what the software is doing it really
makes it look video game-ish. I don't know... I know that doesn't effect it usage, but still.
