Im almost winterized
cant afford new wheels/tires yet for winter, but spent 6 hours doing a Zymol Clear => HD-Cleanse => Titanium glaze treatment to the paint.
I did their WheelBrite cleaning and WheelCoat also. That worked well. Brake dust now just brushes right off with the included brush.
I mention this because the Titanium is on sale now at their website. It says its for SUVs, but thats because Zymol assumes that anything else probably isnt driven in winter. However, they are located in Connecticut, and the saleslady puts the Titanium on her car for the winter. Best for salt protection of their line.
Also, hit 3000 miles. Havent had the RPM above 3500 (hit 4000rpm 3 times during a pass).
my oil is down maybe 1/3 qt.

Havent been above 3500? If you are at 3000 miles you SHOULD get the car to redline. The purpose of breakin is to get all the bits and peices to settle. You do need a bit of hard running to get it to seat properly. You dont have to run it there long, but you should take a few runs, after completely warm, where you just drive the car up the range. Slowly, and without much power. Just keep it in first and second till you get to redline and shift.
No biggie. This will probably lower your oil consumtion for the rest of the life of the vehicle.
You should do this a few times before hammering on the car. By a few times I mean drive for a few days like this.
That will seat everything properly.
If you never expect to go above 3500 rpm, ignore what I have said, but if you ever expect to go on a track with the s4. Do it. And I would suggest going on a track, even if its only once. Its worth every penny.
