Default I'm not a b6 owner.. so thought i'd ask a question in here... since there

is alot more techs "so it seems"
car is a 2001.5 a4 1.8t quattro manual.
My bro jump started it with a 24volt golf cart... is this even possible what happened. The car is CPO.. so i thought i'd check to see if this makes sense. The car went through 9K worth of repairs (paid by me)... but now i've looked at the bentley.. and i almost think CPO should have covered this..

Well according to the bentley. Even with the 24v charge..If you go to page Y621 in the bentley is shows a voltage regulator at position C1. This is wired in such a way that even with the key in the accessory position it should be able to stop the cahrge. Or get fried and stop the charge. Both the A17 and A86 circuit are forced to go through this voltage regulator.

Could anyone explain how it's possible that a golf cart at 24v would be able to fry my car? specifically how the charge would be sent through to the whole system.. here is a picture of the receipt
<img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/imawesomea4/IMG_0460.jpg">

now the thing that gets me is simple... why would wires be rubbed through?

anyways back to bentley... am i wrong? Am i seeing something that isn't there? The car should not have failed to the extent it did. The relays/fuses maybe.. but that's at most. The car should not have allowed the charge through the system according to that diagram.

Default w0w you open yourself up to some more hurt posting that here :)

It's because we are more techy that we would of never done that.

and if someone had they would not of told that they jumped a 12volt car with a 24 volt system.
with all that out of the way.

The fusible link should of blown first (is my impression), and wires would not be rubbed thru.. I think you have a case but if you already paid then well your in a weaker position (but I'm no lawyer)
