Default Intermittent Boost Problem.

I've searched but found nothing. My car at times will boost perfectly fine. Then i stop somewhere and shut the car off, come back out start it up and drive off and it will only boost 5 psi and fall off. I can then drive it like 10 minutes, sometimes longer sometimes shorter and it will boost back up at 10psi just fine. No check engine light. I read it with my vag-com and the only code i get is one that says EGT sensor shorted to ground - - Intermittent. I clear the code and then as soon as i start the car back up it comes back. I took it to the dealer and they just pull the codes and they get this one and told me they can do nothing cause its intermittent. They basically won't do anything unless the check engine light is on. So i'm trying to diagnose this myself. Does anyone know anything about this. Thank you..........Russell

Default Gotta love the dealer. You need the EGT sensor replaced.

iirc, "short to ground" means the thing is toast.

Default It well could. The ECU sees something wrong and puts the car in limp mode...

to minimize possible damage.

I had to replace mine ($239 for the Audi part) and it was pretty easily accessible. There are two. Mine you could see sticking out of the downpipe, just behind the engine on the left (looking down at the engine from the front of the car).

Default Thanks, for $249 i will let the dealer fix it under warranty.

If it was going to be like $50 i would have done it myself.
