It'll probably start a war, but this is why I don't like awd systems that don't start with a 50/50

split.

On sand, any slippage required to activate = stuck.

Default In steady-state, the Audi Quattro system is a 50/50 front-rear split...

unlike every other 4-wheel drive system out there.

The center differential is a torsen, limited-slip differential and this will transfer the torque of the engine to the front or the rear, depending on which has MORE grip.
As was stated in the discussion on your link, your problem was a tire problem not a "Quattro" problem. I don't think the TT was designed to be driven on a beach with its wheels 5 inches in sand.
Anyway, glad you got out of there. Take the Pathfinder next time!

Default Of course it wasn't, TTs have haldex :)

I don't think blame should lay entirely on the tires. Sure good paddle/knobby tires can tackle sand on a 2wd car. I've been on a beach more than once with the S4 and I don't think AVS sports really count as sand tread.

Yes. but from my understanding the center diff is still lim.slip and the split is 50/50. Am I wrong

Default TTs are haldex, basically 100% fwd until the computer starts to lock the clutch
