Default I recently had my shifter adjusted...

it is the stock shifter. And I was having trouble with the 1-2 shift. I loosened the two screws for lateral pivot, and front-back position. I made a few adjustments, and tightened them back up.

The shifting is a lot better now. But should I expect this to happen again? I was chatting with my mechanic, in all his years of Audi service, he has never had to adjust a shifter like that.

Do you think this linkage upgrade would help any movement I experienced? Or was it just a matter of a screw being loose? It's a stage 3 with about 166K miles.

Thanks

Default How hard is the install??

Is the JHM shifter a worthwhile upgrade without this? or is this what makes it so good?

Default no, the jh shifter is very worthwhile without this

I wouldn't even attempt to install that linkage unless I had the engine out for something else, unless the stock bushing was completely shot. The cup on the end of the shift rod is crimped to the stock bushing and it would be a real pain to remove with the engine installed.

The JH shifter gets rid of the slop of the stock plastic shifter ball while the new linkage does the same at the trans end of the shift rod.

I will install that JH linkage the next time my engine is out.
