I recently purchased an S4 and it came w/ only one key, which i just lost.
The question is if i buy a remote can i program it thru Vag-com? or do i have to tow the car to the dealer ($105 to program) and get it programmed.
I would like to avaid paying for the tow and the programming if i could, please send me some info on what my options are. Also if i just buy a maser key, without the remote, would i be able to start the car with it or it also has an immobilizer built in?

You need an existing working key to program another key

I had a new key made, and never programmed the switchblade, and it will start the car.

I believe you can order a key direct from audi (through the dealer) with your vin.
