Default M3 engines vs S4 turbos

FYI, there are now 89 engines on the BMW engine failure archive and that's just of owners who know about the website. Last weekend the count was 83.

I'd take worrying about my turbos over engine failure any day.

Yeah, id rather pay $2xxx in new K04's than mess with replacing the crankshaft, etc. + labor= $$$$

Default Why would that be? Only a few engines have gone out of many thousands built. Plus

When you get the turbos replaced, you still have the same mileage on the motor and when the S54 motors get replaced, they are Brand new with zero miles. Both have about the same amount of downtime. I'd rather have the motor.

Rather have new turbos than another entire engine that may go bad.

Default No way. Anyway, almost all of the motors were isolated to 3 months of production.

And the likelyhood of having the new motor go is extemely low.

But if your turbos go, you have the K04 option. If your engine goes, it's just replaced with stock

Default You haven't really read some of those stories then, have you.

Some of those guys are bone stock and never raced them. Ever. Then, the engine blows and BMW tries to stick them with the bill for "overrevving" the engine.

Default uh...

I dont own a BMW (barvarian manuer wagon) typically BMW builds their enginges like swiss watches (or sewing machines) they work well but at about 40,000 miles they FALL apart. I have had 2 BMWs a 2002 and a 633 CSI turbo. the 633 lasted well but had small things fail CONTINUOUSLY on it, the 2002 was a good car but even though I meticulously cared for it- it rusted beyond repair. none for me thanks ill stick with Audi, MBZ, etc etc...
