I assume that the code has to be included in the sale. Is it possible to get one without a code to work?

Your dealer should be able to get it for you...
I believe all they will need is the serial number off the new (used) stereo. Depending on if it is a bose one or not, the dealer will have to program it to either non Bose or Bose. I bough a new unit not that long ago. I bought it because all I needed was the plastic front piece (it was broke). So, I have the rest of the unit with code. All you would need is the front piece. Let me know if you are interested, I could send you some photo's.
